Balapur Police arrested a reporter of Ya-5 news for extortion

Rachakonda: The sleuths of Balapur Police have nabbed a reporter of Ya-5 news, who is involved in Crime No. 17/2021 U/s 384, 506 IPC registered at Balapur Police Station, Rachakonda Commissionerate.

The details of the accused are as follows:

The accused Salam Bin Abdulrab Yafai alias Salam Yafai S/o Abdul Fab Ein Saleh, Age: 33 years. Occupation: News Reporter, Caste: Muslim, R/o: Errakunta, Balapur Mandal, Ranga Reddy district. The Police have seized one Elack-Maroon Vivo Phone from the possession of the accused.

The accused person, Salam Bim Abdulrab Yafai alias Salam Yafai had worked for the SACH news channel previously for a period of 6 years. But SACH management has removed him 5 months back on the allegations of extortion. After that, he has established a new channel on his own in the name and style of Ya-5 news and again started collecting amounts from innocent people by blackmailing them on trivial issues.

About one month back the accused, Salam Bin Abdulrab Yafai alias Salam Yafai approached two persons, 1) Ali Bin Khalifa and 2) Mohammed Bin Suleman, and introduced himself as Ya-5 reporter and the accused threatened the said two persons who are in real estate business by threatening to telecast news branding them as a land grabbers and also showed them a video depicting them in a bad position and extorted an amount of Rs.85,000 money from Ali Bin Khalifa and an amount of Rs. 60,000/- from Mohammed Bin Suleman threatening to make the sad video viral on social media and collected the said amount with a criminal intimation. Even after paying the amount the accused still pressing for more money, thus vexed with the behavior of the accused the victims lodged complainant in the Balapur Police Station.

After due inquiry today (20.01.2021) at early hours, the Balapur Police arrested the accused and seized one cell phone, and produced him before the Hon’ble court for judicial remand.

The arrests were made under the direct supervision of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda and Mr. G. Sudheer Babu IPS, Addl Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, with the guidance of Mr. Sunpreet Singh, IPS., Deputy Commissioner of Police, LB Nagar zone Mr. K Purushotham Reddy IPS Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vanasthalipuram Division by Mr. B. Bhaskar, Inspector of Police – Balapur Police Station, Mr. G. Vinay, Sub-Inspector of Police and Balapur Police Station staff.
