Proposal to Create 27 New Districts in Telengana

Hyderabad: A detailed presentation on creation of new districts at the all-party meeting is to be held at Secretariat in Telengana today where Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to hold an all-party meet on the issue. The proposed districts are: Manchiryala,  Adilabad,  Nirmal,  Karimnagar,  Peddapally,  Jagityal, Mahabubabad,  Warangal,  Hanmakonda, Bhupalpally,  Siddipet, Medak, Sangareddy, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri, Mahbubnagar,  Nagarkarnool,  Vanaparthy, Khammam, Kothagudem,  Hyderabad (Old), Vikarabad (Ranga Reddy),  Shamshabad (RR) and 27 Malkajgiri (RR). The presentation which would contain about 20 pages would explain in detail the need for carving of new districts, how it would help in better administration and how it would put the State on fast track development. The Chief Minister would also explain the methodology based on which they had come to the conclusion on carving new districts, distribution of natural resources among new and old districts. Besides, division of employees, increase of cadre strength in each department, requirement of financial resources for the development of infrastructure in the new districts and the government’s action plan for the all-round development of each district will also be taken up. He would also explain the geo-physical status and development potential of each district and the proposed urban districts in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts during his presentation. Meanwhile the government circulated a note to the opposition parties proposing to increase total number of districts to 27. According to note revenue divisions will be increased from 44 to 74. The number of mandals will be increased from 459 to 533. Following the meeting KCR would convene a Cabinet meeting where the government would discuss the outcome of the all-party meeting and is likely to give its nod for the creation of new districts. However, the ten page document circulated by the government came in for sharp criticism from the TDP Telangana unit President L Ramana.  ]]>
