Rachakonda: Mental health issues have increased during the lockdown and so people have started seeking help, 152 callers open up and get relief from stress, depression, anxiety, and fear by calling Rachakonda Psycho-Social Counselling Services. Rachakonda Commissionerate’s Psycho-Social Counseling Services was re-launched by CP Rachakonda Mr. Mahesh Bhagwat IPS on 10th May 2021 with a team of 14 Counseling/Clinical Psychologists who have volunteered to help fellow citizens. As per the statistics of the calls received so far, the team has been helping people cope with anxiety, stress, fear of uncertainty, and Covid related issues. There were a few psychiatric and relationship issues that needed long-term intervention and were directed to experts accordingly. The helpline at 040-48214800 has been designed in a way that there is attendance to each and every call.
In just a week from the launch date, the counseling service number received 153 calls. Of the 153 calls received 42 were stress-related, 30 were covid related mental health issues. 15 were depression-related, 11 with several psychological problems, 6 with suicidal tendencies, 6 pertaining to marital issues, and the rest due to several other reasons like health issues and so on. Fear of Covid has engulfed all age groups and the Counselors addressed these issues by equipping them with positive affirmation, a few tips, and actionable strategies.
