Mannar police nabbed accused for theft

Mannar: Anshad, 29, son of Ashraf, was arrested on October 13 at Pavukkara Cherukara Vengazhi on Mannar Viyapuram Road. Mannar police arrested Thyagarajan’s son Ajesh, 25, at Muri Jaya Bhavan in the middle of Bharanikawa Pallikkal.

One of the accused, Ajesh stole the necklace from Annamma Varghese who was returning home while she was walking alone near a shop. The accused stopped their vehicle and on the pretext of asking how far was, Mannar stole the woman’s necklace and rode away.

Frightened, Annamma ran to a nearby shop and the shopkeeper immediately informed the police.

The police then checked more than 200 CCTVs and monitored those involved in similar cases in the vicinity, helping to quickly reach the culprits.

The probe team was headed by Mannar Inspector Mr. G Suresh Kumar on the instructions of Chengannur DySP Mr. R Jose.

The discovery of the necklace that ended up in the arrest of the two accused within 48 hours of the incident helped the Mannar Police and the Kerala Police to be proud.
