Vijayawada: T N Sambasiva Rao new DGP of AP has said that upcoming Krishna Pushkarams will be handled smoothly with a dynamic team of police officers and the police department will ensure that all celebrations go incident-free. The DGP gave an assurance that there would be a change in the way police functions for the better in the next two months and that justice will not be denied to complainants in any of the 830 police stations in Andhra Pradesh. The new DGP directed every police personnel to hone their skills and use the technology in tackling crimes particularly cybercrimes. “With innovative initiatives like digital complaints and e-challans by my predecessors, the police department is moving forward successfully and in the future there will be more of such initiatives. But, the rate of cybercrime has been increasing due to new ways being discovered by the white collar criminals eyeing easy money,” he said. Rao also pointed to the need for establishing the State police headquarters in the capital region and of filling up vacant posts. The DGP inspected the Pushkar Ghat being constructed at Amaravati and reviewed the security arrangements. With the likelihood of one lakh pilgrims taking a holy dip on the average daily, during the Krishna Pushkarams, at the historic Amaravati, the DGP made a visit to Amaravati on Sunday and gave necessary instructions to police officials. DGP added that the police department will gear up for the Pushkarams by deploying adequate forces and adopting the use of technology to ensure pilgrims are safe. He said that irrespective of the progress of the Pushkaram works, the police department will go ahead with the appointment of personnel in-charge for each ghat, deploying required police personnel. He said that the police rehearsals will be conducted prior to commencement of the Pushkarams.
