Nungambakkam Railway Station Gets CCTV Camera

Chennai: Railway authorities have started the work of fixing CCTV cameras at Nungambakkam Railway Station. Security has been beefed up at the station with RPF personnel keeping vigil. One constable was stopping passengers and checking their baggage. Commuters travelling everyday on the route say that the presence of policemen at the station was reassuring and thanked the railway authorities. RPF personnel had been regularly patrolling by taking shifts at railway stations and after the June 24 Swathi murder on the station, there has been increased checks at all railway stations. Anupam Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager said work on constructing the CCTV camera room at Nungambakkam Railway Station was on and would be completed soon. He said, “82 railway stations will have CCTV cameras and among them 15 will have remote control facility. The project is estimated to cost 40.6 crore and is expected to be completed end of the year”.]]>
