Crime Branch CID Hands over Currency Boxes to Court

CHENNAI: Police sources said, The Crime Branch-CID yesterday handed over five boxes that contained cash that was looted in a train heist, to the court. Recently unidentified persons had looted Rs. 5.75 crore from a huge consignment of soiled currency transported in a parcel van attached to the Salem-Chennai Express. The personnel attached to CB-CID brought the boxes to XI Metropolitan Magistrate Court yesterday and the magistrate directed the CB-CID to retain the boxes as material objects under its custody. So far no significant clues have emerged in the case. Several teams have launched searches at several locations across the State, police sources said.]]>
