PATNA: SEPTEMBER 2: The CRPF and the Bihar police have been warned of more deadly ambushes by rebels in the coming days. The Bihar Police and CRPF are revising their operational strategies after the deadly July 18 Maoist attack. In the attack 10 commandos of the elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) were killed in Aurangabad (Bihar), close to Jharkhand border. The reason for the high police alert is the Sudhakar, the maoist leader who goes by several aliases including Oggu and Bugyari and is well-known in the security establishment for his military tactics, is now in charge of the maoist group. He has taken over from another dreaded Maoist Arvindji alias Dev Kumar Singh, the 51-year-old Central Committee member of CPI (Maoist), who carries a bounty of `1 crore. Inputs confirming Sudhakar’s takeover of Arvindji’s role trickled in just days after 10 CoBRA commandos were killed in the Maoist attack in Aurangabad, sources in the Bihar police disclosed. The source said, Sudhakar was operating from the Chakrabandha-Lutwa forest, which is a heavily mined area. “Recently, Sudhakar’s wife, also a Maoist leader, Madhavi alias Aruna alias Jaya has also joined him in Chakrabandha’’ the source added. While Sudhakar, who is now a Central Committee member, hails from Adilabad district in Telangana, Madhavi hails from Warangal in the same state. Both Sudhakar and Madhavi had been operating in Chattisgarh till recently where they planned and executed major attacks against the security forces. The source said, “Earlier it was believed that the attack on CoBRA jawans was masterminded by Arvindji alone. But fresh inputs indicate that Sudhakar too played a role in it’. Sudhakar, (56), is making all efforts to get in touch with jailed Maoist cadres in Aurangabad, Gaya, Giridih and Koderma in Jharkhand, for operational purposes besides recruiting more young men, source adds. They are in constant touch with the Telangana and Chattisgarh police to track the movements of Sudhakar, said Bihar’s Inspector General of Police (operations) Mr. Kundan Krishnan said.  ]]>
