‘Cyber Crimes’, Women Activists Complain to Police

CHENNAI, 12 SEPTEMBER Women activists here in Chennai sought action against people who indulge in cybercrime and harass women and to prevent suicides like that of Vinupriya. In a representation given to the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office on 10 September, women activists wanted action to be taken against cyber crime. Coming under the banner Periyaristic Women Liberation Movement the activists complained about an unknown person who had posted a morphed picture of a Standard IX girl on Facebook recently. A person, under the name of ‘KathirVel PMK,’ had posted the picture of the schoolgirl after she gave an interview to news channels highlighting caste discrimination at her school in Anguchettipalayam, Cuddalore district said, N.
