Former AIADMK councilor hacked to death in Vellore, Police suspect gang rivalry

VELLORE: GG Ravi a former AIADMK councillor of the Vellore corporation and chairman of the GGR College of Engineering in Vellore was hacked to death on Sunday evening while returning from a meeting at the Rangalaya Kalyana Mandapam at Gandhi Nagar, Katpadi in Vellore. Ravi was attacked by a gang armed with sickles around 8.45 pm, police said. The murder is suspected to be a fallout of years of rivalry between Ravi’s family and the gang of notorious rowdy Maha alias Mahalingam, who was killed by Ravi’s sons R Gokul and R Tamil Mani near Thottapalayam in September 2015. Mr. P Pakalavan, Superintendent of Police, (SP) Vellore Range, said that special teams have been formed to nab the accused. “At the moment the murder seems to be a result of the previous enmity, but we are yet to identify the accused” he said. Pakalavan visited the murder spot on Sunday and launched an inquiry. a  case has been registered by Viruthampattu Police and investigation was on, Police said.]]>
