AP Cyber Police arrest Chennai man for creating fake government site

HYDERABAD: Kulathonga Boopathy, a resident of Chennai was arrested by the Cyber Crime Police on Tuesday for cheating people by creating a fake government website msmerigister.com for registering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). When I accessed the website to register my company after filling the form I was asked to pay Rs 1,481 even after 24 hours of paying the sum and not receiving any reply through my SBI credit card I grew suspicious, a top official of a plastics manufacturing firm claimed, Police said. Police added that, “After accessing the Udhyog Aadhaar website, she learnt that the MSME doesn’t charges any fee for issuing registration certificate”. The victim filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police on Dec 30. The Police learnt that the fake website was the first option to pop up during an internet search, Police added.]]>
