TIRUCHIRAPALLI: Police arrested several PMK party cadres when they protested demanding closure of TASMAC shops in Karumandapam in Tiruchy on Thursday. The protest was led by Pattali Makkal Katchi’s Deputy General Secretary Sridhar as directed by PMK’s youth wing president DR Anbumani Ramadoss, who attempted to paste stickers along with cadres at a TASMAC outlet demanding their closure. We have been demanding closure of TASMAC shops across Tamil Nadu to ensure total prohibition, told Policenewsplus.com . The state government has been showing little interest in removing the Tasmac shops despite the court’s directive to the state government to close down the liquor shops in key locations. Sridhar further said, “We started the protest by printing stickers with caption written that the TASMAC shops function illegally and our aim to raise awareness among people”. Shridhar warned that they would be forced to intensify their protests if the shops are not closed by March 31. Alert Tiruchirapalli Police rushed to the spot and arrested several protesting PMK cadres when they gathered near the outlets to paste stickers. Huge posses of Police personnel were deployed at three TASMAC outlets in Karumandapam who anticipated the protest.    ]]>
