Sangrur: The Sangrur police have arrested four men who kidnapped a Dirba commission agent on July 17. Police have also recovered Rs 15 lakh out of the Rs 26 lakh paid by the family as ransom. The police have also seized weapons from the accused and are conducting raids to arrest the remaining two accused. Kapil Dev was kidnapped from near Camper village on July 17 around 6.30 am when he was returning home from Mehlan Chowk. The accused intercepted his car by parking their car in the middle of road and took him to a place on Sehajpura Road, Samana. There, the accused beat him up and told him to arrange Rs 1.25 crore in ransom. But they released him after taking Rs 26 lakh from the family. There are six members of the gang of which we have arrested four and have been conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused,” said SSP Mandeep Sidhu. Though Dev was released the same day, the family approached the police on July 20. After getting a complaint, the SSP formed special teams to arrest the accused. Four accused were arrested on Wednesday night from near Kamalapur village while they were travelling in a car with a fake number. The arrested are kingpin Kulwinder Singh Kala, Ravinder Singh, Happy Singh and Beant Singh, while two accused, Ranjit Singh and Gurpiar Singh, are absconding. The police have seized a .32 bore revolver, an air pistol, three cartridges, a motorcycle and a Swift Dzire car from the accused.  ]]>
