Madurai police form special cell to investigate inter-caste marriage couples

 The police said the complaints from the couple would be received in the crime prevention cell at the police commissionerate located on the Alagarkovil Main Road near Thamaraithotti. Couples can alert the special police cell about their issues either by appearing in person or over the phone (No 0452- 2346302).

A supervising committee comprising deputy commissioner of police (law and order), Madurai district social welfare officer and district adi dravidar welfare officer is in place to ensure that the cell is functioning properly.
The Madras high court, which was hearing an honour killing case, had directed the Tamil Nadu police to form special cells to investigate issues faced by inter-caste marriage couples.
