Chennai: The election that was conducted within the Chennai city limits was peaceful and there were no reports of untoward incidents, said City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan. In order to review the security arrangements Mr. A. K. Viswanathan visited several places in the city, which included the polling booths on Thursday. He said adequate security was provided so that people can cast their votes without any hindrance or intimidation. Talking to the media, he said  polling was ‘peaceful and incident-free’ in the three Lok Sabha constituencies and parts of three other Lok Sabha constituencies falling under the Greater Chennai police limits. Before the election commenced the city police executed pending warrants and the police force was mobilized. Once the polling was completed, election officials, accompanied by the police, would take all EVMs to the three counting centres, which would be provided three-tier security, he said.  ]]>
