CBI takes over case – files charge sheet

Delhi: A charge sheet has been filed against the owner of Ashrams by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the rape of a minor girl at his Ashram in Delhi and Utter Pradesh in 1999. The CBI had declared a reward of five lakhs for information about him that will lead him to his arrest. The details in the charge sheet the CBI had filed stated that the accused Virender Dev Dixit who headed the Ashrams, Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya that was renamed as Adhyatmik Vidyalaya, raped the minor girl repeatedly in May-June 1999 at his ashrams. After raping her, he threatened the girl that he will cause injury to her reputation and will finish off her family members. After committing the crime, the accused absconded and the last known location of the 77-year-old accused was in Nepal. In 2018 on March 26, an Interpol Blue Notice was issued against him. The CBI also issued notices asking him to appear before the investigating team. Despite all this, he has not turned up, a CBI official had earlier said. The Delhi Police on the direction issued by the Delhi High Court on January 2018 handed over the case and the documents supporting the case to the CBI.  ]]>
