Coimbatore Police lodged accused in Prison

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police arrested eight persons who were involved in the murder attempt on a person with previous criminal records and his friend in broad daylight. The incident took place near the CSI Church, Avinashi Road, on May 14. The accused persons have been arrested by the police, the identification are as follows: All persons are residents of Ganapathy area and they are M. Manikandan (27), M. Satheeshkumar (25), R. Soorya (25), N. Jagadeesh (25), Rajesh Kanna (21), E. Hariprasad (22), B. Hariharan (25) and T. Dhanabal (25). According to the police, in addition to the eight accused one more person named Sanjay Dhanapal had attacked Pradeep and Tamizhvanan since he also had previous enmity with the duo. The accused were armed with sharp weapons and they had created an atmosphere of confusion as they moved in the busy part of the city and attacked the duo in broad daylight. A release issued by the police said that the provisions of the Goondas Act were invoked under the instructions of City Police Commissioner Mr. Sumit Sharan to prevent the accused from further indulging in similar violence. The arrested persons have been lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.  ]]>
