Chennai City police appreciated for solving crimes quickly

Chennai: The Chennai Police rescued a child ager three-and-a-half and handed over the child to the parents within a very short period of time. The child was abducted by the domestic help of the house. The mother of the child, Anvika is Mrs. Nandhini who is a doctor at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, and her husband Arul Raj is a software engineer. The three-member family stays at Chellammmal Street, Shenoy Nagar. The girl child is a kindergarten student of DAV School. When she returned home at 12.30 p.m. on Thursday the child’s mother Mrs. Nandhini noticed their domestic help Ambika stepping out to collect the child from the van. But neither the child nor Ambika returned home. Once the child went missing and after a period of half an hour the child’s father, Mr. Raj received a call from their domestic help Ambika’s mobile number claiming that the child and the domestic help had been kidnapped. Another call came an hour later demanded a ransom of Rs. 60 lakh. The call was a threat call as the caller threatened to harm the child unless the ransom was paid immediately. Immediately the couple registered a complaint with the Aminjikarai police. On receiving the complaint the city police immediately started to make the necessary preparations to conduct the investigation into the crime. They organized seven teams under Assistant Commissioners of Police, including the Assistant Commissioner, Anna Nagar, Mr. V. Gunasekaran. The media was informed about the incident by, North ACP Mr. R. Dhinakaran and he said that the parents of the missing child were having suspicion on Ambika as she had been hired only a month ago. He said that during the investigation the CCTV footage was scrutinized and from the call records that were taken from her mobile phone, we came to the conclusion that she was involved. The domestic help stays at Padi Pudhunagar, near Mogappair West, and was previously working with a KFC outlet in Thirumangalam. Mohammed Kalimullah Shettu worked in the KFC outlet where she had worked earlier and both were close to each other and on the day of the incident he too was absent from work. The incident took place on Thursday. We found that a red car was used for the purpose. The entire operation was monitored by Police Commissioner Mr. A.K.Viswanathan. All the city police stations were alerted. The police focused in on the red car near Red Hills. At 9.30 p.m, the Red Hills Inspector and Special Sub-Inspector intercepted the car which was driven by Shettu. On interrogating him he disclosed to the police that the child was with Ambika at a resort in Kovalam. Based on his disclosure the Neelangarai ACP Mr. V. Visveraya and team reached the resort and rescued the child at 10.15 p.m. The accused, Shettu and Ambika were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Mr. Dhinakaran said that the kidnappers had done no harm to the child. He praised all the police personal involved in the operation by saying that all our personnel worked efficiently in this operation. He said that the child was rescued within eight hours on being kidnapped. Our investigation revealed that the two accused kidnapped the child with a plan to use the ransom to launch a film production unit. He also appealed to the public to engage domestic help only after due verification. The mother of the child Ms. Nandhini said that she was unable to believe that her child was traced so quickly and was reunited and she praised the police by saying, Hats off to the police. The father of the child, Arul Raj broke down and said that we panicked earlier. We are so lucky to get back our child, within hours too.]]>
