Police apprehended drug traders for assaulting anti-drug activist

FEROZEPUR: Dharmavir, an anti-drug activist, was severely left injured. Police arrested five miscreants and booked them for allegedly assaulting the activist. In the last month, around 20 days ago a few residents of Makhu Gate area had gathered for a meeting at the residence of Dharamvir to conspire few strategies how to uproot the illegal sale of drugs in their locality. During the meeting, persons responsible for carrying out illegal drug trade were annoyed. In retaliation to conspired strategy, Dharamvir was allegedly assaulted. The victim is under treatment at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot. The accused have been identified as Shiv La Sharma, Usha Rani, Jonty, Jeet and Rahul. A case has been registered on the statement of Dharamvir against them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at the City Police Station said the Official.      ]]>
