Chennai Police launched a ‘Slum girls empowerment program’

CHENNAI, TN: Chennai city police launched a ‘Slum girls empowerment program’ the violation against Women and Children wing of the in association with FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) on Tuesday.

The program is being carried as part of the wing’s social development and community policing initiatives.

The purpose of the program is to identify 50 girls in each slum area. Also provide them ‘Need-Based Training’ such as driving, nursing, home nursing and help them get a job opportunity.

They have selected 10 slum areas in the first phase, identified slums are Teynampet, Thomas Nagar, Thideerkuppam, Kothamedu, Kannammapettai, Sundaranagar Kuppam, Thideer Nagar Kuppam, and Mackey’s Garden Kuppam. All the areas of the city will be covered in a phased manner.
