Chhattisgarh: Mr. Durgesh Madhav Awasthi was the student of BNSD Inter College and today he has become the Director-General of Police of Chhattisgarh. His mother’s dream and father’s education along with her intention to fulfill it not only made him a successful IPS officer but also brought fame across the country.
It was the mother’s dream that during his employment as an engineer in the sugar mill, he prepared for the civil service and became an IPS in the first attempt. As soon as the information about him becoming the DGP was made to reach Kanpur, his parents were very happy. Since morning, teachers and relatives of the university and all degree colleges have been congratulating him on the phone.
Mr. DM Awasthi IPS were still holding the post of DG Naxal Operations in Chhattisgarh. During this period he broke the back of the Naxalites in many actions and opened police stations, posts, and schools in the affected areas.
His relatives said that his father Dr. Prakash Awasthi was the head of the Hindi department at VSSD College and retired in 1992, while his mother Mrs.Padma Awasthi is an ordinary housewife. He is survived by two younger brothers, Shekhar, Hitendra Keshav, and two sisters Deepti Shukla and Preity Pandey. Deepti’s husband was the SP in Raipur.
Mr. DM Awasthi’s mother Mrs.Padma said that Madhav (DM Awasthi) had become an IPS at the age of just 24. He did 12th from BNSD College and BSc from VSSD College. After doing engineering from Sugar Institute, he worked in Bardoli Sugar Mill, Gujarat. But I wanted to make him an IPS officer. Hence, I asked him to work hard day and night and got success in the first attempt itself.
After being the Police Chief in districts like Satna, Raipur, Indore, Chhindwara, and Ujjain, when Chhattisgarh became a state, Madhav allies DM Awasthi chose it due to Naxalite influence. Mr. DM Awasthi said that his mother said, if you take a risk, then you will succeed, he made this a motto. Therefore, after going to Chhattisgarh he rejuvenated the Naxalite affected areas and sent many Naxals behind bars.
