Bhubaneshwar: The Orissa Police has announced Job notification to hire candidates who completed Any Graduate for the position of Special Police Officer.
The name of the recruiting company is the Orissa Police. The name of the Post is Special Police Officer. There is only 1 vacant post. The salary package is Rs.13, 000/- per month. The job location is in Bhubaneshwar. The last walk-in date is 26.5.2020.
The applications are invited in the prescribed form from Police/ Central Armed Police Forces personnel who have retired in the rank of Constable/Havildar/Assistant Sub- Inspector/Sub- Inspector of Police or equivalent ranks for engagement as Special Police Officers (SPO) on contractual basis for assisting the existing Police force in Lockdown duty due to COVID-19 pandemic which is prevailing in the State.
In order to be eligible to appear in the selection test for the post of Special Police Officers, the retired personnel must have retired from State Police/CAPF in the rank of Constable/Havildar/ASI/S.I. of Police; The candidate should not be more than 62 years of age as on 13.05.2020; He should be able to speak, read & write Odia; He should not be convicted in any criminal case nor awarded with any major punishment in the departmental proceedings during his service career; The candidate should have no criminal case pending against him; He should not have more than one spouse living; He should not have suffered from co-morbidity.
The Special Police Officers on appointment will get a consolidated monthly pay of Rs.13, 000/- The candidates are required to execute an agreement for re-employment on a contractual basis. The contract will be renewed subject to satisfactory performance and need for their services. No person shall be re-employed after attaining the age of 62 years. The re-employed persons shall have to wear the uniform and the badge as prescribed by the Director-General of Police and. Inspector-General of Police, Odisha.
The age of the candidates should not be more than 62 years of age as on 13.05.2020. The candidates are required to submit the copies of following documents along with their application form. The documents follow:
- Two passport size self-attested photographs.
- Self-attested copies of certificates in support of age (if age not mentioned in service certificate)
- Self-attested copy of discharge certificate.

The selection procedure consists of the Medical Test and the Interview.
Medical Test: The candidates shall be put through a medical test. The candidates should be physically fit and mentally alert. The candidates should be physically capable of discharging field duty by putting in hard labor for at least 8 hours a day during day or night. A Medical Board shall test the physical fitness of the candidates and the decision of the Board is final and binding. Persons with physical deformities shall not be eligible. Only those who are found medically fit shall be allowed to participate in the interview.
Interview: The candidates who qualify in the medical test will appear before the Selection Board for the interview. The Selection Board shall test the suitability of the candidates for appointment as Special Police Officers.
The procedure to apply for the post is as follows.
- The application shall be made as per the proforma enclosed herewith. The applicants shall fill in all required columns of the application form correctly and completely and enclose all relevant documents to it. An incomplete application may be summarily rejected.
- The selection test will be held at Reserve Police Office of respective District Headquarters/Police Commissionerate from 18.05.2020 to 21.05.2020 & 26.05.2020 during office hours. The test includes the verification of original documents, medical tests, and interviews.
