Jamudia police arrested 1 person belonging to a gang who had stolen vehicles from different areas

Asansol: Bardhaman district, also spelled Burdwan or Barddhaman was a district in West Bengal. On 7 April 2017, the district was bifurcated into the Purba Bardhaman district and Paschim Bardhaman district. The headquarters of the district was Bardhaman, and it housed the cities of Asansol and Durgapur.

The Police were getting complaints from different places that their vehicles were being stolen for the past few days. This report was taken by Jamudia police.  The Jamudia police had registered the complaints that they had received and had commenced the investigation in order to find the persons who were responsible for the vehicle thefts.  During the investigation, the police arrested a man named Anjar Khan from Nigha area on 25 August by carrying out an operation led by Jamudia police station and Mr. Shripur I, Sub Inspector.

When a press conference was held at Jamudia police station, ASP Mr.Tathagata Pandey IPS informed at a press conference that at the time of arrest a car was recovered from him but Anjar could not show his papers. The police arrested him and got his four-day custody from the court. Four more vehicles were recovered during the interrogation. The papers of these four vehicles were also not with Anjar Khan.

Mr. Tathagata Pandey said that Anjar Khan and his associates steal vehicles, then make fake papers and sell them for Three lakhs Rupees. This causes real problems for the real owners of these vehicles to get their vehicles back. The ACP said that these vehicles are stolen from different areas. He said that this is the work of a gang. The Police are on the lookout for the other members of the gang. He said that so far a total of five vehicles have been recovered from Anjar Khan. ASP Mr. Tathagata Pandey IPS said that very soon the owners of the vehicles will be ensured and their vehicles will be handed over to them.
