Gujarat DGP honored the police officers with ‘e-Cop’ award

Gujarat: The present-day is a day of advancement in technology and almost all spheres of life revolve with the use of technology. In this era, the use of technology by the Police Department has been paramount to detect and solve crimes.

Today, law enforcement can use technology to detect and solve criminal activity happening at the moment. Global Positioning Systems (GPS): GPS not only helps police officers get to crime scenes or locate criminals more easily.

Dealing with jobs in criminal justice today involves GPS systems, robots, advanced cameras. The high-performance computer systems and Internet technologies are also involved. All these technologies improve surveillance and investigation while making analysis procedures easier.

Today police departments are using surveillance cameras, gunshot detection systems, automated license plate readers, facial recognition software, body cameras, drones, and numerous databases to prevent, respond, and investigate crimes.

The technologies that police officers are using every day are

  1. Robotic cameras
  2. Handheld lasers
  3. Automatic license plate recognition
  4. Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)
  5. Tablets
  6. GPS vehicle-pursuit dart
  7. Thermal imaging
  8. Gunshot detection systems

The Gujarat State Police Chief Mr. Ashish Bhatia Nao IPS honored the officers/employees of Gujarat Police with commendable work in the investigation of the crime through the use of the available technology in the month of August-2020 with the ‘e-Cop’ award.
