Govardhanpur Police saved the lives of 12 fishermen in deep sea

South 24 Parganas:  At around 7.30 pm on 2.11.2020 SO Mr. Ajay Kumar Chander, Officer in Charge of Govardhanpur Police Station under Kakdwip sub-division under Sundarban Police District in South 24 Parganas district received information that a fishing trawler has capsized in the sea 16 km away from ‘G’ plot.

Immediately the OC and his team set out on a rescue operation with a fast interceptor boat (FIB), along with two other trawlers. On reaching the spot quickly, with the help of moonlight, the rescue team found 12 fishermen who were drowning in the water, far away from the shore as the water was pushing them deeper into the sea and they were floating on the water as they were in possession of life jackets.

The police personal took a great deal of effort with the help of their civilian assistant in rescuing the 12 men who were drowning in the sea and brought them back to the police station unharmed. The police personals swift and courageous action saved the lives of 12 fishermen.
