Kadapa: Falling in love and deciding to marry an Indian man who was working in Kuwait, the Ethiopian woman came to Kadapa in 2015 with him. Ever since then, she was made to live in a rented house with a promise of marriage. However, due to financial issues, the man decided to go back to Kuwait to earn and sent her living expenses. Unfortunately, last year in March, the man passed away due to a heart attack in Kuwait, and the Ethiopian woman was left alone with no one to care for her. With her visa already expired & having no money for food, the woman was directed to the Foreign Registration Office in the Special Branch where Kadapa District Police SP ensured all measures were taken to send her to Ethiopia safely while sheltering her with her partner’s parents.
While the entire process and communication between embassies were taking place, the woman was affected with COVID-19, and with the help of the Andhra Pradesh Police extending medical help as much as possible, the woman was able to recover. Acquiring an Emergency Travel Document, the woman was sent to Mumbai by train with an escort so that she could be safely boarded into a flight back to her home country. Once she reached Addis Ababa, she was once again reunited with her family and thanked the Andhra Pradesh Police profusely.
