Hoshangabad: Under the guidance of Director General of Police Mr. Vivek Johri IPS, Chief of State Police, and under the direction of Inspector General of Police, Narmadapuram Division, Mrs. Deepika Suri IPS, under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Jagat Singh Rajput IPS, SIT was constituted in the month of October in connection with the car theft. Superintendent of Police Harda Mr. Manish Kumar Agrawal IPS and Narmadapuram Superintendent of Police Mr. Gurukaran Singh IPS included officers/employees ranging from Inspector to Constable Category. Who has succeeded in catching two gangs stealing inter-state vehicles from different states. From this gang, the police have seized 25 four-wheelers worth about Rs.3 crore and devices used for theft. During this, the police have arrested 14 accused of both the gangs from four states.
The case started when a vehicle Swift car was stolen in Itarsi on 11 October 2021, after which the Inspector General of Police inquired about the theft of four-wheelers in the division and he under the direction of Harda Superintendent of Police and Narmadapuram Superintendent of Police formed an SIT (Special Investigation Team), in which apart from Harda, police officers and employees of Narmadapuram district were included.
From the date of the incident of Swift car stolen from Itarsi by the said team, route information was obtained. During this, the police got important information about the route of the stolen car reached, the location of a suspected Kamal son of Devisingh Dhakad caste Kirar resident Udaipura district Raisen was also found. During this time, the police team got information about the accused Kamal that he has also been an accused in old cases of vehicle theft. When Kamal was interrogated by the SIT, he confessed to stealing vehicles from Kannaud Khategaon, Seoni Malwa, Pipariya Obdullaganj, and Itarsi and selling them through a driver to a person named Mithlesh in Banaras and Abdul Shakoor in Bhubaneshwar (Orissa).
Based on this, with the help of local police in SIT Chandoli police station area, Mithlesh Kumar Morya’s father Phoolchand Morya resident Chakghat Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) was detained and interrogated. In which he accepted to sell a stolen car from Kamal Dhakad. After this, on the behest of Mithlesh, the SIT with the help of local police seized eight vehicles from him. Two vehicles were confiscated by the SIT on the suspicion of accused Kamal Dhakad from his house in village Udaipan and Bhopal, as well as a vehicle sold by Mithlesh which was stolen from Kannada, Saidpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Based on the information received from the accused Kamal, the SIT with the help of local police reached Bhubaneswar in Odisha and seized one vehicle from Abdul Shakoor. The crime of theft of the said vehicle is registered in the police station Gulabganj of Vidisha district.
The SIT has seized 11 vehicles from Bihar, it started with the arrest of the accused that came to sell vehicles in Harda. The police got information through an informer that on February 11, 2022, a person named Amitesh alias Monu from Patna has come to Harda’s railway station to sell a stolen four-wheeler. Police immediately laid siege and arrested the accused with a black-colored Creta. Harda City Kotwali registered the offense of section 411, 413 Bhadvi in this case. On interrogating the accused, he told that he does the work of selling stolen vehicles. I used to send these stolen vehicles through Gwalior resident Ajay Sharma and his other fellow drivers, whose number plates used to change the vehicle of the same color and same company. After that, we used to change the number plate on the stolen vehicle. Monu told that he has parked two stolen vehicles for sale at Itarsi station and other stolen vehicles he told to sell to Chhotu resident Patna, Honey Singh resident of Patna, Bunty resident of Muzaffarpur, and Sohail resident of Jamshedpur. On the above information, SIT seized 2 vehicles from the Itarsi station and 7 vehicles from the above persons after raiding at different places. In the case, absconding Ajay Sharma, the car thief was taken into custody from the highway near Shivpuri. From whose possession 1 vehicle was confiscated and one vehicle was also confiscated from his accomplice Giani Gupta. A total of 25 vehicles were seized from the above two gangs by the SIT whose cost is about 3 crores. Simultaneously, a total of 14 accused of both the gangs including car theft, stolen vehicle buyer, and other associates were arrested and presented before the court. The above crimes were carried out by the accused in three phases, first, window glass was broken by the accused of theft by marking the parked vehicle at a deserted place, then entering the vehicle by the accused through the gadget available with them. Programming is installed in the key. In the second phase, the vehicles are sent by the above accused to Odisha, Banaras, and Patna through the drivers, and in the third phase, the said stolen vehicles are bought and sold by a group of accused from different states.
On interrogation of the accused, he told that prima facie the vehicle is seen from the registration number, engine number and chassis number are not visible to anyone, so keeping the above things in mind, the registration number, color, and color of any vehicle going on the highway. The model is written, just like accidental vehicles (which are completely gets damaged) are also taken so that when a stolen vehicle of the same model and color arrives, that number is written on it. With regard to trains, the entire thing about the purchase was done through WhatsApp calls.
The search for other members of the said two gangs is being done by the SIT through the state-of-the-art technology of the cyber cell. Information about stolen vehicles is also being collected from different places in Madhya Pradesh; efforts are being made to recover them.
