Arunachal Pradesh police commence investigation

Tawang: The Arunachal Pradesh have initiated an enquiry and investigation into a case of sexual harassment of women in Tawang district.

A group of women was asked to promise that they had cast their vote for the BJP in the national and state elections in Tangzen village in Tawang assembly seat.  A ritual ceremony was being conducted at that time of the incident on June 19. A man claiming to be a leader from the ruling BJP government molested two women.

A Police officer said that they have received a complaint from the husband of one of the molested victims and 13 others. In the complaint, the complainants stated that they were molested and the women have stated that they were forced to participate in the traditional ritual, which was against their will.

An investigation is being carried out into the incident, said a police officer.
