HUBBALLI: On Sunday, Police arrested six men including a temple priest in connection with the Vandalism incident which had taken place on Thursday last week and identified them as men from Andhra Pradesh. The incident happened at the place called Anegundi in Hampi after the puja was carried out. It is said that the treasure of King Krishnadevaraya buried attracts most of the dacoits which are built on the island in the Tungabhadra River. According to the police, the accused had visited the location twice prior to launching actual digging of the Samadhi of Madhwa saint Vyasaraja at Nava Brindavana. The excavation of the treasure was done on Thursday between 8 pm to 3 am, till the early hours of the dawn. The dacoits had come to the place with an Innova and took the ferry to the island. Police suspected that they were most probably assisted by local people in fleeing from the island in the early hours of the morning. The persons arrested are identified as T. Balanarasayya, a temple priest, Murali Manohar Reddy, D Manohar Derangallu, K Kummata Keshava, B Vijayakumar, and Sriramulu. The seventh member of the group is still in the hunt. After the occurrence of the incident, the police had zeroed in on the accused after studying the mobile numbers in operation at the nearest mobile tower. Likewise, for the investigation, five teams of police personnel were deployed to visit Andhra Pradesh in order to detain the suspected accused.]]>
