VIJAYAWADA: City Task Force (CTF) sleuths intercepted a van and seized 600 kilograms of ganja at Ibrahimpatnam police limits on Sunday morning.
According to Police officers, the Swaraj Mazda vehicle was heading from Bhadrachalam to Chennai where they concealed the package under the seats. CTF officials who received a tip off about the transit immediately reached the spot and set up a barricade and began checking vehicles. They then caught the van and upon searching it they found various packets of ganja wrapped in a cover.
The total worth the ganja is around Rs 30 lakh approximately. The City Task Force seized the vehicle at around 6 pm in the evening. The driver has been arrested and currently the investigation is still on to get more details according to CTF Assistant Commissioner AVR Mr. PB Prasad . A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 has been registered against the driver at Ibrahimpatnam police station. The investigation is still on to crackdown on the network of suppliers and dealers.
