Kerala Police arrest Principal of Thiruvananthapuram aviation college ‘for abetting student to suicide’


The police on Monday arrested the Principal of the IPMS College of Aviation, Thiruvananthapuram, in connection with the suicide attempt by a student during her internship at Calicut International Airport, Karipur, a few days ago. Five classmates of the girl had earlier been arrested.

Principal Deepa Manikandan, 45, was picked up from Coimbatore by a police team led by Dy.SP Mr. Jaleel Thottathil, who is investigating the case. The police said that the Principal was found to have abetted the crime and had helped the five accused.

Several charges were slapped against the five accused, including provisions of the SC and the ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
