MUMBAI: With rising crime the City Police needs more trained personnel to deal with rising cyber-crime, said Mumbai Police Commissioner Mr. Datta Padsalgikar. Conviction rate in Mumbai had improved drastically, from 19 per cent five years ago to 60 per cent now, the Top Cop mentioned. He said that cyber crime was a major issue. “It’s a major issue, we do need people especially to be trained for this” Mr. Padsalgikar said. “We take help from other agencies, both government and private, to help us train our people and also help us in certain important cases,” the police commissioner said. Rising cyber crime was a challenge, he stated. “IT Act says investigating officer cannot be below the rank of inspector. But we don’t have so many trained inspectors.” “The conviction rate of Mumbai city has definitely improved’’, he added.]]>
