Siliguri: In an operation conducted by the NJP Police Station and Special Operations Group (SOG), a raid was carried out at Gate Bazar, falling under the jurisdiction of New Jalpaiguri Police Station, SPC. As a result of the raid, two individuals were apprehended and taken into custody. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shib Nath Paul, hailing from Ambikanagar, NJP Police Station, Jalpaiguri District, and Goutam Chaki, residing in Suryasen Colony, Block-A, Ward No. 34, NJP Police Station, Jalpaiguri District.
During the meticulously executed operation, the authorities successfully seized the following articles, which were found in the possession of the aforementioned individuals:
38 bottles of Himalay Gold Country Spirit, with each bottle containing 600 ml of the spirit.
13 bottles of String Premium Kingfisher beer, with each bottle holding 650 ml of the beverage.
21 bottles of Mc. Dowells Rum, each containing 180 ml of the rum.
12 bottles of Tuborg beer, with each bottle consisting of 650 ml of the brew.
4 bottles of Strom strong beer, each containing 650 ml of the strong beer variant.
15 bottles of Royal Challenge Beer, holding 330 ml of the beer in each bottle.
15 bottles of Carlsberg beer, each containing 650 ml of the popular beer brand.
Additionally, a substantial quantity of illicit distilled liquor amounting to 20 liters was confiscated during the raid.
The NJP Police Station has taken prompt action by registering two separate cases under the provisions of the Bengal Excise Act. The investigations into these cases are currently underway, as the authorities seek to unravel any additional information and bring all those involved to justice. The diligent efforts of the police and the ongoing investigation signify their commitment to curbing the illegal trade and consumption of alcohol in the region.
