Chennai: Today 22.11.2019 under the order of Dr.Pradeep.V. Philip IPS Director General of Police, Civil Supplies CID, Tmt.S.Santhi. IPS Superintendent of Police Civil supplies CID Chennai has formed a team comprising of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Civil supplies CID, Sub-Inspectors of Police and head constables of Coimbatore Sub-Division and conducted intensive vehicle checks.
During this vehicle check on the wee hours of 22.11.2019 at Krishnagiri – Bangalore National Highway a Taurus Lorry bearing Registration No.KA 01 AD7155 was intercepted and 17 tones of PDS rice of Tamil Nadu was seized from an Ajith Kumar, Lorry Driver, who is employed by Deepa Kumar, Erode, an accused indulged in PDS smuggling and categorized as Know your Criminals(KYC). The said Ajith Kumar was arrested.
On a further vehicle check, Vellore Road, Taurus bearing Registration No.TN23 P9699 was intercepted and 20 Tonnes of PDS rice was seized and KYC Damodaran and his driver Sivaprakasam were arrested.
During the special vehicle checks conducted in the last two days, 50 tonnes of PDS Rice, 3 Taurus lorries, one Bolero jeep, one two-wheeler were seized by the special team.
