Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu: In a compassionate gesture reflecting the Tamil Nadu Police’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, Thiruvarur District Superintendent of Police Sri Karun Karat, IPS, personally handed over an insurance compensation of ₹1 crore to the family of late Special Sub-Inspector Mr. Mohan, who lost his life in a tragic road accident while in service.
Mr. Mohan was serving at the Muthupettai Police Station in Thiruvarur district. Under a Tamil Nadu Government–supported insurance scheme, government employees who receive their monthly salaries through nationalized banks are covered for accidental death or injury during service, with insurance protection up to ₹1 crore. As part of this scheme, State Bank of India (SBI) released the accident insurance amount on 24.12.2025.
The Superintendent of Police invited the bereaved family to the District Police Office and formally handed over the insurance amount, extending heartfelt condolences and moral support. The gesture underscored the department’s responsibility toward the families of police personnel who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
The family members expressed their sincere gratitude to the Tamil Nadu Police and the district administration for the timely support and compassionate assistance during their time of grief.
