Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu: The Ramanathapuram district police are taking steps to intensify the ongoing drive against illegal sand-mining and sand-smuggling.
In this drive against sand smuggling, the Ramanathapuram District Police conducted surprise raids in the areas coming under Paramakudi town and Thondi police station limits and seized 01 Tata Pickup, 01 JCB and 01 Tractor used for sand smuggling and also arrested 03 persons. The arrested were identified as 1) Karuppusamy, S/o Kannan, Moovendar nagar, Paramakudi, 2) Prabhu, S/o Thondiraj, Pudhupattinam, 3) Sathyamoorthi, S/o Sundarraj, Sathanoor of Ramanathpuram.
In this connection they were booked under The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 for further course of action.
