The Idol Unit of Tamil Nadu police have seized a Balaji idol worth Rs 33 crore stashed in a house in Nagarpalayam area near Gobichettipalayam in Erode district.
The Idol Unit of Tamil Nadu police received information that ancient idols were being stored and sold abroad in Gobichettipalayam area of Erode district.
Subsequently, on the 7th, under the supervision of ADSP, Palamurugan, the special police force led by Inspector Ilango, learned that Palanichamy from Nagarpalayam, Gobichettipalayam , had an ancient statue and talked as if they were buying the statue. After that, the police went to his house and demanded Rs 33 crore to show him the statue.
As the metal idol of Balaji shown by Palaniswami was 600 years old, when he asked for the documents, he could not provide the correct documents and explanation. Therefore, the Police seized the idol and brought it to Trichy today.
