Jang: The Tawang police have successfully apprehended four individuals involved in a significant incident of theft, where a Ser Choi (holy book) was stolen from the gonpa situated in Luguthang village. Acting swiftly on a filed First Information Report (FIR) by Tsering Chombay, a respected resident of Luguthang village, on 29th April, the district police, under the leadership of Jang Police Station OC Mr. Pema Wangchu, initiated a thorough investigation. Their diligent efforts culminated in the arrest of four suspects, namely Lham Tsering from Kharung village, Lobsang Tsering from Kharung village, Tashi Phuntso from Mangnam village, and Tenzin Norbu from Mangnam village. These arrests were made on 22nd May, pursuant to Section 457/380 IPC.
Upon thorough interrogation, the quartet confessed to their involvement in the theft of the holy book from Luguthang gonpa. They further disclosed that they had clandestinely concealed the stolen holy book in close proximity to Luguthang village. Prompt action by the police enabled the successful recovery of the stolen book from a location known as Meragoh, which is situated near Luguthang village.
The apprehension of these individuals and the subsequent retrieval of the stolen Ser Choi have brought relief to the Luguthang community and the followers of the religious institution. The police’s dedication, combined with the cooperation of Tsering Chombay and other members of the community, played a vital role in resolving this grave offense against the sanctity of the holy book. The law enforcement authorities assure the public that all necessary legal actions will be taken to ensure justice is served in this matter.
