Tirunelveli: On 29.7.2022 Raja Shekaran (30), son of Arulraj of Pudukudi, Srivaikundam, who was involved in the case of murdering Samithurai (26) due to animosity in the area under the jurisdiction of Nanguneri Police Station, North Thalyuthu, CS. Praveen Raj (30) of I Church Street, also strangulated Raja (45) (deceased) of Shankarnagar, Thalyuthu, in the area under Manoor Police Station area on last (17.7.2022) due to animosity and set him on fire. In the arson case, Dharmaraja (25), son of Chelladurai of North Street, Valachalpatti, Vellangottai, and Rajendran alias Rasam (19), son of Mariyappan of Mela Street, Mela Kallur, who was involved in a case of robbery, assault and attempted murder in the area under the jurisdiction of Sudhamalli Police Station, Also belonging to Five Line Street, North Thalyuthu, who sold ganja in the area under the jurisdiction of Thalyuthu Police Station. All five including Kasirajan’s son Selvam (23) have been arrested and jailed.
It came to their attention of Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police Mr. P. Saravanan, IPS, that the criminals are threating the public, order was given to the Nanguneri Utkota Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Rajat R. Chaturvedi IPS, to take action against the said criminals under section 14 of the Tamil Nadu Gangster Detention Act.., Mr. Manoor Police Inspector. Mr. Sabapati, Police Inspector of Thalayuthu. On the instructions of Mr. Chandrasekhar, Sudtamalli Police Inspector Mr. Jeankumar, action was taken against the said persons under the Gangster Prevention Act and on the recommendation of the District Superintendent of Police, on the orders of the District Collector, the criminals were imprisoned under the Gangster Act.
