Belgaum: The code of conduct is in force as the date for the Karnataka assembly election has been announced. The police are keeping an eagle eye on all the check posts in the state. Actions and words of political leaders matter. The police have seized cash and other items being distributed to voters illegally without documents at many check posts in the state.
70 lakh undocumented cash which was being illegally carried in a car was seized by the police at the Kagwad check post in Belagavi. Money was brought from Maharashtra to Karnataka by car. The driver of the car did not have any documents regarding the money. The Kagwad police have taken the two into custody and are interrogating them and have registered a case.
On the other hand, the police seized 2 lakh 30 thousand rupees which was being transported without documents in Harugeri of Rayabhaga taluk and a case was registered in the police station.
