New Delhi: As many as 79 policemen have been killed so far due to coronavirus, Delhi Police Commissioner Mr. Rakesh Asthana said on Wednesday.
“During the COVID, the Delhi Police lost 79 lives due to corona positive to some by being on the front line,” the Delhi Police Commissioner said in his address to the “75th Rising Day” of the Delhi Police.
He said the work done by the Delhi Police during those test times had won the hearts of the people of the national capital.
Mr. Asthana said that since then people have been calling the Delhi Police “Dil Ki Police” (Police with heart).
The Commissioner said the police department was providing 30 types of digital services to the people of Delhi such as e-Beat Book, compliant monitoring system, Safe-City project, CCTNS, ICJS, and ERSS112.
He said the Delhi Police Department was not only providing the best services to the residents but was equally aware of the welfare of its own forces.
“More than 5,000 police personnel have recently been promoted, 38 have been given out-of-turn promotions and 45 have received exceptional work awards,” the Commissioner said.
He said 164 members of the families of the deceased policemen were recruited on compassionate grounds. In the case of COVID vaccination, the Commissioner said special camps were being organized for Delhi police personnel to be vaccinated with booster doses.
