The police have taken a stern stand against social crimes and have arrested eight individuals involved in gambling activities in Handwara and Baramulla. The police party of Police Post Langate in Handwara arrested four gamblers, namely Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, Shabir Ahmad Chopan, Showkat Ahmad Khan, and Ishfaq Altaf. The police have confiscated stake money of Rs. 19,380 and playing cards from their possession. The four individuals have been shifted to the police station where they are in custody.
Similarly, acting on specific information regarding gambling activities in Par Mohalla Pattan, a police team from the Police Station Pattan raided the location and arrested four gamblers, namely Sajid Ahmad Najar, Showkat Ahmad Waza, Mohammad Shaban Gojri, and Fayaz Ahmad Najar. The police have seized stake money of Rs. 13,140 and playing cards from the possession of these individuals. They have also been taken into custody.
The police have registered cases against these individuals under relevant sections of the law, and investigations have been initiated. The authorities have urged community members to report any criminal activities in their neighborhood to the police units. The police have reiterated that anyone found indulging in criminal activities will be dealt with as per law. The police have further stated that such activities not only result in financial losses for individuals but also have a negative impact on society as a whole.
