Thrissur: Three persons have been arrested in Thrissur for allegedly spreading fake news on social media related to coronavirus. Ibrahim son Shafi (35), Sirajuddin (37), and Sabari (28) were arrested by the Pazhayannur police. Aneesh George was arrested under Section 268, 505 (1) (B) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 120 (O) of the Kerala Police Act.
A case has been registered at Mathilakam police station against Aneesh George, a resident of Punalur, for spreading false rumors through social media. Six persons have been identified for forwarding the posts of those arrested in the case of spreading fake news. It is offensive to make any mention of those who are under surveillance at home and post them on social media. Don’t spread fake messages. Just spread the message of the health department.
