SRINAGAR: Three BSF men, including an officer, and a militant were killed in a gunfight near Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of border district of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir on 8 August. Army and BSF men launched a joint operation in Machil sector near LoC after receiving information about presence of militants there, sources said. During the combing operation, a gunfight erupted between the soldiers and the militants. In the ensuing gunfight, two BSF men and a militant were killed. Three border guards and two Army men were also injured in the gunfight. The injured security personnel were evacuated to Army hospital in Srinagar. He said one of the critically injured BSF men later succumbed to injuries in the Army hospital. “The condition of another jawan is critical”. The deceased BSF men were identified as Sub Inspector Mohinder Yadav, Head Constable C P Singh and Constable Babu Shaan. The combing operation in the area was going on. ]]>
