Rachakonda: The facts of the case are that the deceased Smt Chantamma alias Chanti alias Laxmi 55 years is the wife of accused Dommeti Venkata Ramana alias Venkat Rao, 67 years. They hail from East Godavari District. They have three sons and one 22-year-old disabled/heart patient daughter. All three sons were married. They were migrated to Hyderabad for the treatment of their disabled daughter and staying at Meghna Kuteer Apartment, Plot No.20 18/1 & 20-18/2, Goutham Nagar, Malkajgiri. The accused/husband of the deceased has been working as a Watchman at the Apartment and his wife as a maidservant and were earning their livelihood. The accused used to quarrel with his wife often with regard to family matters. The deceased has decided to stay with her daughter at their native place. But the accused refused for it. On the night of 26-07-2018, a quarrel ensued between both of them, and in that process, the accused picked up an electric sump motor and hit on the face of his wife due to which she sustained bleeding injuries and died on the spot.
A case was registered with Cr.No.483/2018 U/S 302 IPC of P.S Malkajgiri, Rachakonda. During the course of the investigation, Mr. T.Komraiah, the then Inspector of Police, Malkajgiri collected evidence, arrested the accused, and remanded him to judicial custody. Thereafter Mr. A. Manmohan, Inspector of Police took up further investigation into the case, and on completion of the investigation, he filed the charge sheet in the court. During the trial, today i.e., 18-01-2021 the Hon’ble XVI ADJ at Malkajgiri Mrs. Bhavani Chandra convicted the accused Dommeti Venkata Ramana alias Venkat Rao, 67 yrs, watchman,r/o Goutham Nagar for 7 years RI and imposed a fine of Rs 500/ U/S 304 ( 11 ). The 10 Mr. T. Komraiah, Inspector of Police, CDO Mr. Y.Jangaiah, and Mr. M.Ganga Reddy, Addl. P.P have attended on behalf of the prosecution. C.P Rachakonda Mr. Mahesh M.Bhagwat IPS., Addl. C.P Mr. G.Sudheer Babu IPS and Ms, Rakshitha K Murthy, IPS, DCP Malkajgiri appreciated and felicitated the 10, CDO and Addl. P.P for their efforts in getting a conviction and announced a reward to them.
