<![CDATA[BENGALURU: Breaking traffic rules is very common throughout the country, but this traffic cop policeman is so tired of Mount Carmel girls that no matter how many times these girls get caught, they keep riding triples, risking their own safety, ays the cop. Shankarnaik G, a police constable, points out that college students often break traffic rules – especially boys. His first case was in 2008, when he caught a man without a helmet. Shankarnaik is one of those rare breed of professionals in the city, who actually love their job. He gives a shy smile, when you ask what he likes about his job. Probe him a bit further and he quips, “Everything”. This MA graduate, who once had dreams of becoming a teacher even today lights up at the mention of the same. Shankarnaik is a native of Tumakuru who later moved to Bengaluru in 2005. He lives in Yelahanka. He starts work every day at 7 am, chasing violators and documenting each of his cases until 2 pm, when he finishes his shift to go back home to his two sons of two and four-years old respectively. “Every day I file around 60 to 70 violations,” he says. While he is at home, he loves catching up on old movies starring actress Malashri. “I like old Rajkumar movies also,” the 32 year old cop says.]]>
