Rachakonda: The Sleuths of the Rachakonda Cyber Crime arrested the Kingpin involved in creating morphed sexually explicit photos of the faculty members of educational institutions and extorting money via cryptocurrency.
Details of Accused are as follows: P.Tamil Selvan Age: 22 Years, Occupation: Private Employee resident of Revathipuram, Urapakkam, Tamil Nadu. The Police seized 1 Mobile Phone and Hard Disk from the possession of the accused.
On 06-06-2021, around 4 PM, one of the faculty members of Anurag Educational Intuition noticed some unknown person on Telegram names: Kavin, 1207Sawshu, And Nick (Telegram numbers not available) started sending vulgar messages and her morphed pictures in Telegram app. Later she got multiple phone calls from unknown persons who were using vulgar language and blackmailing. Later the faculty member came to know that someone also posted her colleague faculty photos with all their details in the Pinterest Apps.
The accused who is Technically Advanced, and currently pursuing his MSc in Psychiatry, browsed the internet and go through websites where the details such as phone number and mail Ids of the people were posted online and downloaded them, later the accused used the apps such as Cut-paste (Photo Morphing App), Kine Master (Video Editing App) to create fake morphed sexually explicit photos and videos of the prospective victims. Once the accused creates those morphed images, he used Text Now, Talk U, and Auto-Redial App (Virtual Numbers) and registered using them in Telegram to create a fake profile., to hide the identity i.e. IP Address, the accused used Browsec VPN (Virtual Private Network) application and checked if the phone numbers had a Telegram accounts. Later he used to send those morphed sexually explicit photos to the victims on telegram and demanded money via Crypto Currency, if the victims declined his demands, the accused used to post the phone numbers of the victims on various Telegram Groups (Tamil Unsatisfied Aunties which consisted many members but identity hidden) and thus mentally harassed them.
Under the direct supervision and leadership of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police with the guidance of Mr. P. Yadagiri, DCP Crimes, and Mr. Harinath, Asst. Commissioner of Police the case was investigated by Inspector Mr. R.Venkatesh assisted by Mr. Praveen Kumar, RS1, Mr. Pragati Ratan, Techincal Expert of Cyber Crimes Police Station, the accused was brought from Chennai and arrested on 11-06-2021 and sent to Judicial Remand.
The Police have cautioned and advised the staff of educational institutions not to post their contact details on the website.
