Chennai: Shanthini (36), a Malaysian citizen from Besant Nagar, Chennai lodged a complaint to the Commissioner of Police, stating that when she was working as an Ambassador in Malaysian Tourism Development Corporation in 2017, she got introduced to Dr. Manikandan, former Minister and former MLA, Ramanathapuram Assembly Constituency through his friend Barani. Manikandan expressed his interest to Shanthini in investing in the tourism development industry in Malaysia. In her complaint, she stated that she led the life of living together for the past 5 years, and also he promised to marry her after divorcing his 1st wife. Meanwhile, she became pregnant, he forcibly aborted the fetus. When she asked him to marry her, Manikandan refused, beat, and continued to threaten her to post her nude photos on social media. She sought legal action against Manikandan and his accomplice Barani. In this regard, a case in W19 Adyar AWPS was registered. Following the dismissal of Manikandan’s anticipatory bail petition by the Hon’ble High Court, Madras, on 20.06.2021, Manikandan was arrested at Bangalore on 20.06.2021. Legal action is being taken against him.
