Rachakonda: On 26 June 2021 the program on Margardarshak refreshing session for 2 hours was conducted virtually under the guidance of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS, CP Rachakonda and Chairman RKSC convener women’s forum and DCP Malkajigiri zone Ms. Rakshita Murthy IPS and other office-bearers. CP Rachakonda has interacted with the Margadarshaks and spoke on women’s safety. He has given insight on how women can be harassed in the workplace, Voyeurism, stalking both online and in person. He spoke in length on Domestic violence, living relationship, Zero FIR, etc., and all pertinent laws. He was educated on important laws. He highlighted the key aspect of keeping the information confidential by the police. He has reiterated that any problem should be addressed early stage and there should not be any delay in reporting crimes. He has shown direction on how to reach the police. He has urged women to be bold and report any crime to be it professional or on the personal front. He has spoken about the support system available. Bhumika women conclave, Sakhi once stop center, counseling centers, etc. He shared live cases of how police intervention has solved the harassment promptly.
DCP Ms. Rakshita Murthy IPS shared her perspective of the current scenario and the challenges faced by women. She has urged all Margadarshaks to continue doing a good job as a Samaritan and ensure to check the well-being of friends, colleagues, and relatives. This will help them to open up in case of any issues and also instill confidence and reassure them.
DCP SHE Teams – Ms. Salima explained the She Teams and reiterated the modes of reaching them. She insisted that people can raise the concern both on WhatsApp, call them, meet them at any place convenient to the victim. She has urged people to come out of the social stigma.
Women’s forum Joint Secretary Latha Ramasubramanyam spoke that the main objective of the RKSC women’s forum is to empower women, instill confidence, enhance security, be a torchbearer of an inclusive and safer society. The roles and responsibilities of Margadarshaks were explained. She requested Margardarshaks to be a brand ambassador in their organization and society.
Dr. V. Deepa Nair, National Trainer for POSH Act, Women Rights Activist, and a Lawyer explained women’s laws with several examples. The Margadarshaks were completely engaged. It was a great recap on the laws and regulations followed by an interesting quiz.
Ms. Kiran Uniyal, Martial Arts Practitioner. Black Belt Dan 3 and Krav Maga Instructor, First Woman to achieve most of World Records in Martial Arts in India and explained tactics of self-defense. Provided insight on how to be safe. The techniques explained how to escape during any attacks during the session were extremely useful and boosted the confidence of the participants.
Certified Margadarshaks, Rajani Nagandla, Deepa Gandham, and Siva Karadi shared their experience being Margadarshaks and how they could help fellow society members during distress. They shared how quickly police responded in taking the cases to closure.
They were about 60 participants. During the interaction, a lady has sought help for her DV case. The program concluded with a promise to bring more such programs during the coming days and a vote of thanks.
