Siliguri: Acting on a tip-off from a secret source, a team from Pradhan Nagar police station on Friday morning apprehended three suspected drug peddlers and seized two scooties bearing registration numbers WB 74AK/4457 and WB 74AL/0714. The incident occurred around 0945 hours at the Siliguri Junction area.
The police team recovered two plastic pouches from the dickeys of the two-wheelers that contained 220 grams and 225 grams each of the contraband Ya ba tablet. The tablets totaled 4,800 in number and were en route for delivery to a customer. The suspects have been identified as Kalyan Dey S/o Late Khagendra Nath Dey of Binoy More, Ward No. 36 under Bhaktinagar Police Station; Abdul Gafar of Badlagaon, PO Fulbarihat, NJP Police Station; and Biky Roy of Madhya Shanti Nagar, Ward No. 36, Bhaktinagar Police Station.
The approximate market value of the seized contraband has been set at Rs.4 lakh. A case under the NDPS Act has been initiated, while the accused will be presented before the Ld Court with a petition seeking their police remand.
